STEAM Resources

STEAM represents an educational approach that emphasizes the following fields: science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics. STEAM integrates arts, innovation, and design into STEM education, and STEAM curriculum and activities are cross-disciplinary and project-based. STEAM lessons encourage students to explore the world around them, develop and create innovative solutions to problems, think deeply, work collaboratively, and communicate their results. This collection of STEAM resources includes guidance documents and curricular resources to help school, district, and state educators interested in implementing STEAM education programs.

What is STEAM?

STEAM programs can also be referred to as “arts integration” or “STEM+Arts” programs. Although there are slight nuisances to program implementation based on the term used, the important aspect of STEAM is integrated learning that incorporates the ideas of innovation, creativity, and design from the arts and applies them to observation, inquiry, and problem solving processes found in STEM activities. The resources in this section provide an overview of STEAM concepts.
