Formative Assessment

Formative assessment is a process educators employ in daily instruction to support students make progress on their learning. Effective use of formative assessment requires educators to create clear Learning Goals and Success Criteria for each lesson, build in opportunities to gather evidence of learning, and take pedagogical action to provide students with feedback that will help move students’ learning forward. The Formative Assessment collection brings together resources that educators can use to support professional learning about formative assessment and implementation of formative assessment at the state, district, and classroom levels.
