Webinar: Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts: Shifts and Implications for ELA Instruction

On April 12, 2012, CCSSO hosted a webinar, supported by the Kansas EAG State Consortium project, titled "The Common Core State Standards for English Language Arts: Shifts and Implications for ELA Instruction.” Presenters Meredith and David Liben, ELA instructional specialists and professional development leaders, work with Student Achievement Partners, a nonprofit organization founded by three of the contributing authors of the Common Core State Standards that assembles educators and researchers to design actions based on evidence to improve student achievement. This webinar includes discussion led by Sandra Warren, ASES SCASS adviser, and Kris Shaw, ELA specialist in Kansas State Department of Education. The recording and presentation are provided for broad use by educators and leaders interested in learning about the key transitions to instruction and curriculum under the Common Core Standards.

This resource is to the point and contains information at the right grain size to apply to instruction. The information is very important for applying the CCSS to reading instruction in particular. Because it is a PowerPoint, the formatting isn't too stable, so a presenter would need to go in and make a few fixes before using it.
