In Spring 2014, the Partnership for Assessment of Readiness for College and Careers (PARCC) conducted field tests of its online assessment system. This report summarizes key findings from the field test and from surveys from students and educators. It addresses the following areas related to the field test: quality of test items; student experience; technology preparedness; training materials; and administration procedures. Based on the information generated from the field test and surveys, the report also summarizes key improvements that PARCC intends to take to ensure successful future administrations.
The content of this resource is well articulated and communicated through an organizational structure and visuals that are easy to understand. The information is both relevant and timely for states implementing PARCC assessments. Major findings include: the field test process "went smoothly"; students had sufficient time to complete the test; and the computer-based items were comfortable for students, especially those students who practiced first with sample questions and tools designed to familiarize them with features of the online system.
