From the author: "This essay discusses the impact of technology on education and educational assessment, which is even more profound for test takers with disabilities and special needs."
This essay provides a reasonable overview of new developments in assistive technologies for computer-based assessments. The author points to a number of accessibility issues including trends in technology use by students with disabilities, technical accessibility standards, and needs for additional research. The purposes are well described and generally met, although much of the information is more of a summary on the topic rather than of new developments. Communications quality is average with a fair amount of research language and a simple design. Utility of the resource may be more as a reference for other researchers rather than actual use by educators or policymakers.
