Taken from the original website: "A website focused on key topics in U.S. history, that is designed to teach students how to critically read primary sources and how to critique and construct historical narratives."
The award-winning website is organized into three sections: 1) why historical thinking matters, 2) student investigations, and 3) teacher materials. The student investigations section is organized by topics that focus on questions of historical debate. Each investigation includes a video introduction, a set of historical sources with interactive guiding questions to read and study, an essay assignment that students compose online, related webquest activities, and an index of sources. The teacher section includes resources and guidance that can be used to support classroom instruction related to the central topics. The site is unique in that teachers can access a set of materials that they can readily employ to support teaching historical thinking and multiple-source comprehension tasks.
